Do you like meat? Scratch that. Do you love meat? If the answer is yes, you should pay a visit to JJ’s Brazilian BBQ in Pham Ngu Lao.
Hidden above Burger King, JJ’s Brazilian BBQ is an elegant restaurant that has brought to Vietnam the traditional Brazilian rodizio: different cuts of meat are skewered (on metre-long skewers), cooked and then served at your table. The best part? You can eat as much as you want.
JJ’s Brazilian BBQ also offers a comprehensive salad and hot food bar with a great selection of pickles, olives, salads, dressings (including olive oil, balsamic), and delicacies like beef carpaccio. On the hot side, you can enjoy a good selection of dishes, including spring rolls, clams and fried rice.
Although the starters are nice, most of us go to JJ’s Brazilian BBQ for one reason: the top-quality meat selection. If you have not been to a rodizio before, I warn you, you will be off meat for a few days once you visit JJ’s Brazilian BBQ.
The first serving was of sausages, homemade and generously seasoned with herbs and spices. The beef skewered with peppers followed, a nice match of flavors, served marinated and nicely presented.
The morning glory and green asparagus wrapped in bacon were lovely; an excellent balance between the veggies and the bacon.
The picanha, a beef rump steak, was very juicy and tasty.
The roasted lamb was gorgeous, roasted to perfection, providing amazing flavours and served with optional homemade mint sauce, giving it a very special touch.
Everything else we sampled - pork ribs, chicken wings and much more were all delicious.
The grilled king prawns were a nice addition to the meat fest: in order to get the best quality and flavour, they keep them alive and grill them as needed, in order to ensure freshness.
Finally, when you cannot eat more, be aware that there are also desserts available, and the grilled pineapple or the passion fruit will help you digest the meal.
With the exception of the ham, which is sourced locally due to it having the best flavour, all meats are imported from New Zealand.
JJ’s Brazilian BBQ offers a good selection of beers, as well as wine, with prices starting at just VND430,000 per bottle. The full meal (all you can eat) will set you back VND 550,000 including the different meats, salads, etc…
