Foreigner Reportedly Shot in District 1 Last Night
[Updated] According to Thanh Nien, last night, two unidentified people on a motorbike reportedly shot at a group of foreigners as they were walking in downtown Saigon last night.
A source reported that 5 or 6 Asians of unknown nationality (presumably non-Vietnamese) were walking down Ton That Thiep Street in District 1 when they were approached by 2 men on a motorbike. The man on the back then pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot into the group.
Dan Tri quoted witnesses who said the heard “one big gunshot” and saw the shooter flee.
The unidentified foreigner was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for their wound.
Police are investigating the incident.
Shootings in Vietnam are very rare due to tight restrictions on firearms, making them very difficult to obtain.
We’ll keep an eye on this story and update it as new information comes in.
